I hope that someone can enlighten me with some ideas that had me send my new toshiba notebook to the warranty depot.
I had my regular edit shop for my mini dv tapes do an edit for me as i am not at that level yet, having just recently purchased a panasonic pv-gs 300 camcorder and a first time user; though i did dabble in the dark ages :D with a sony hi-8 and super 8 and sony's editor.
The problem that cropped up is this. The fella that did my edits of my 3 mini dv tapes burned to 3 TY G02 R- media of separate family events and did a great job (I've known him for years).
Then I went to burn backups from my internal burner on my new toshiba with the source R- TY G02 dvd to several brands of quality R+ media and the tray would fly open after I inserted the media with the message to insert R- Media. My software used was Nero Ultra 7 edition and the Sonic Record Now that came with the notebook removed weeks ago by our office tech. So I tried alternate methods. I used 2 other notebooks, one an Acer with slysofts Clone DVD, and the other with a Sony with Nero 6.6.6.18. Trying their internal burners and as well with each of them hooked up after that resulted in the same problem I hooked up one to a Benq external 162I and the other to a Sony DRX 810UL and the same thing occurred. The Acer still using Slysoft's Clone DVD and the Sony with Nero 6.6.6.18.
The toshiba tech checked out my new unit and found nothing wrong burning Verbatim R- to R+ on an external LG burner. So the unit was sent back and this was with Sonic Record Now that came with the notebook in toshiba's OEM package reinstalled and used as the software.
So I again tried my Nero Ultra Edition with the Sonic Record Now not in start up as set by the Toshiba Tech as he said there would be no conflict of programs and still got the same problem with the tray flying open and requesting a R- disc, this is again using the Edit Copy TY G02 R- as my source disk. The Toshiba Tech said there would be no conflict with Sonic as the program was not at Boot Up. I talked to him and he could not understand what was happening.
Then I remembered that my 3 year old toshiba notebook had 1 Click DVD Copy in it and I tried the Edit TY G02 R- as my Source disk and then a Verbatim R+ as the disk to burn to and it worked like a charm.
I called my friend at the Edit Shop and he said that his partner who is the computer savvy individual but is now away on holidays found there was indeed a problem with Nero and his Ty G02 R- and burning to even a Ty R+ and other quality R+ Media that he had.
However he said that his partner found a setting within Nero that allowed him to be able to do this and so I thought I would post here to see if anyone has encountered this and may know the solution.
The partner is away for a month.
I hope that someone has comments, thankyou.
