View Full Version : PgcEdit trace runs fine, playback not at all

I've just re-authored a DVD with 4 eps of a TV show with DVD shrink, and applied the DVD Shrink Remote buttons macro. I've only ticked

Always allow the 'title menu' button to skip to the next title

and it did NOT run through a trace. Obviously this macro only works properly when you tick more than only this option!

OK, now that the macro works I've imported a menu and manually adjusted all links and jumps to get the navigation to my liking. When I do run a trace it all works fine, I can select eps from the menu buttons, skip to the next ep with title, and back to the menu.

However, when I play it back in PowerDVD all I get is a black screen. I've openend my selfmade DVD in DVD Shrink and both menu and episodes are listed under "unreferenced material". How come?

Since I'm still far from being familiar with DVD structure and commands I might have messed up something (e.g. am I allowed to jump to VMGM2 from First Play?) but why does it still run through a trace as intended? Also, usually when you use jump commands to domains you're not allowed to jump to PgcEdit colors those commands differently but that isn't the case.

Perhaps try a different s/w player - eg VLC or MPC? PowerDVD is not the best going around. Or even burn the DVD (to an RW first) and try in a standalone player.

And yes, you may certainly jump to VMG 2 from FP-PGC.

That's right! I've just fixed the problem. It's a bug introduced in v2.0. Thanks for the report!

Not sure what you did with your menu stuff, but that's most probably not related to the DVDShrink plugin problem.

Are you sure your eps are referenced before applying the plugin, and before importing your menu? Can you verify your original DVD in Shrink?

I know, my problem is not related to the DVD Shrink plugin, I just didn't want to open another thread ;)

Here's what I did:

- reauthor 4 ep with shrink
- apply remote plugin (more settings used so it works)
- import menu
- adjust all buttons/links/jumps

It runs fine in PgcEdit but not in any software player I've tried so far. Opening my DVD in Shrink shows all eps and menu as being unreferenced. How is this possible?

I really don't know. I have never encountered this case. And importing a menu is something I do very often.
