No audio with Mpeg4 Video

I tried to open an MPEG4 video downloaded from the Internet Archives. RealPlayer Plus immediately downloaded an Mpeg4 codec and the Video plays but without any sound or in some cases scratchy intermittent chugging and garbled sound.

The same files play fine with the VLC player but I would prefer to use RealPlayer as a default player.

I did some more tests and found that the files will not play in the DivX Player until after I install Nero 6. After that they will play in DivX Player but still won't play in RP. Same is true with Real Alternative.

VLC seems to be the only player that will open the files right out of the box. So why don't I use VLC? I'd like too but it is not compatible with my Total Recorder driver

It most likely has AAC audio. Use MediaInfo or the latest beta of GSpot to get details on what codec is being used.

Maybe try installing Envivio.

realplayer supports aac out of the box, so its most likely not aac audio

your file is a .mp4 file?

Yes the file extension is mp4. The files were downloaded from the Internet Archives and the stated type of files download was "256Kb MPEG4"

This was the details I got from a file downloaded from the Internet Archives. No idea if it's similar to your file, although it probably is. I'm not all that familiar with RealPlayer but what exactly do you need Total Recorder to do? Maybe you can find similar applications that will work with VLC.

I was able to get Total Recorder to work with VLC and some of the Livexx5 pls links but not all. The audio with some stations is still all broken up and with others it's perfectly fine. I have no idea what the differences in the streams are. Some that work are high bitrate and others are very low. I guess I'll stick with VLC rather than switch to RealPlayer as it seem to have less bloat and play more files than other players I have tried. I tried turning off the Total Recorder driver and the problems remained with the default sound card driver
