View Full Version : Sonic Record Now and Nero 7 Ultra Edition???

My new toshiba notebook comes with Sonic Record Now and is a necessary program on the notebook if I run into an issue which I did of late and I had uninstalled it when I set it up.
Our software tech ghosted the laptop and uninstalled all of my programs and reinstalled Sonic Record Now so that we could resolve the issue with the notebook.
Now my brother gave me Nero 7 Ultra Edition that he was given at work but he does not need it and so it is in the packaging yet and he said I should take it and use it.
My concern is this.
Will Sonic Record Now simply sitting on my laptop cause Nero to not work consistently well?
Toshiba told me that Sonic Record Now is a product of Roxio and that Nero and Roxio don't cohabit well???
My second question is re Nero 7 Ultra Edition and that there I understand is another Nero 7 Edition and I read somewhere awhile back in a forum that Nero 7 had some bugs in it and some end users were having problems with the program.
My sister has Nero 7 Corporate Edition on her PC at work and so I am just trying to get some perspective of this program and any bugs that it may have? What are all the Editions about? and will Nero Ultra work properly with Sonic Record Now simply sitting on my notebook?
I look forward to comments very much, thankyou.
It is frustrating to be a Noob.

Having any Adaptec (Roxio) product installed simultaneously with one of the Nero suites used to be the kiss of death. I personally don't know if this is still the case (one go-around was enough), but I'd recommend only having one burning suite installed at a time. Apparently, the packet writing mechanisms of Roxio and Nero conflict with each other.
Here's some reading (http://www.google.com/search?q=nero+7+conflict+with+Roxio&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official). Enter at your own risk. :)

Thx for the reply, I talked to a toshiba tech that recently did some warranty work for me and he suggested a work around leaving Sonic Record Now on the notebook b/c it is a necessary program should I run into issues with the notebook in the future is to disable it from the start up so that it is not booting along with Nero.
Being a Noob I don't know if this will work, he said then there would be no interaction between the 2 programs.
I would appreciate your comments, thankyou.

I am still trying to decide if I should install this program. I have visited several forums and am getting mixed reviews from them.
Several have said to d/l the 6.6.6.18, that it is the most stable program and that the Ultra 7 is still buggy with a lot of problems.
Then in another couple of forums i get the comment that i should install it and d/l version 7.0.8.2 and I assume before I do this I would have to use the Nero Clean tool to get all the leftovers out or can one d/l over top.
And really what is the scoop on the problems with the last version of 6 the .18 and the new packaged Ultra 7 that I have a packaged copy that my bro gave me as he is not using it.
I really would appreciate comments, thankyou.

I merged your last comment from the standalone thread you'd made as it's basically a rehash of the original request.
I'd go ahead and install Nero and just see what comes off. If you've problems, search and fix. If not, well, that's pretty obvious. You can always delete the software if it turns into a nightmare that you can't handle, but that's just a worse-case scenario. Jump in and get after it.

Just to insure I am doing this properly and prepared for a worst case scenario, I was wondering what the best cleaning tool for Nero is?
I managed to get my hands on a new Ultra 6 program and plan to install that one instead as I have read a lot in forums and see that there are problems with Nero 7 yet and I don't want to walk down that road.
What I don't know is if I have to install the new disc in order to get my serial number key and then uninstall it to install what is supposed to be the most stable version and that is the 6.6.6.18?
I did not want to start another thread and make a mess in this productive forum.
I am still using my 1 click dvd copy program on my other notebook as my main burning software as I really like that software.
Any comments, thankyou.

I am still hoping that an experienced member can advise me if when I install my new copy of Nero Ultra 6 whether I have to use the Nero Clean Tool after I get the product registered and get my key??
I wondered if there would be "over rides", remnants of Nero's first install that could cause problems with the update to 6.6.6.18 and thus I should do this.
If so, where is the best Clean Tool, the reason I ask this is b/c I am new to burning and know that perhaps there may also be a new version of the Clean Tool.
I am sorry to post this query again, I simply want to start off on the Right foot and not the "Left" one which could start me down the trail of headaches.
I hope to hear from experienced end users as this Noob does not want to take chances, thankyou!!!!
