Some time ago I moved my NEC 3520 burner to a USB 2.0 Enclosure. I use Nero Version 6.6.1.4
My Ritek x8 DVD+Rs continue to work great, prefect results 99-100 out of 100 times with each disc being tested using by creating a Nero CD/DVD speed transfer graph. Other +R & +RW works fine as well.
Also zero problems burning +R at 8x via USB while testing the previously burnt DVD in an internal burner, something I can't do if both drives are internal.
Unfortunately when I try to burn -R's I am getting a 50-75% failure rate on Legacy 8x DVD-R media which worked OK in the past.
I do a bit better if I don't test one DVD as I burn another but the yields are still too low for me to keep using these discs.
I am guessing that because of the USB connection the burning process is being interrupted in a way that +R media can recover from but -R cannot.
Then again maybe its the media I am using that is to blame, and its a coincidence that I didn't get any bad ones before going external.
Not a big deal as I have media that gets the job done.
I am just curious if anyone else has noticed similar differences between +R and -R or between individual brands, when burning via a USB 2.0 enclosure.
