Could be interesting for Windows users because a such tool was only available for MacOS. (Not tested personally)
This program allows to directly integrate chapter-information to
tracks on Apple's iPod.
It was tested with iPod Mini but should work on every iPod
(Windows-FAT-formatted) that works with the latest iTunes Version
as of Sept. 06.
Warranty
--------
* I take no responsibility for any kind of damage caused by my tool.
Use it at your own risk!
* This package includes a betaversion of the tool and may probably
contain many bugs - I would appreciate if you report them to me

Distribution
------------
You may not distribute this tool without having an explicit permission
from the author (Michael Friese, michael@saydoo.com)

How-To
-------------
Since this program is a first betaversion, I have not written it as
userfriendly as it should be in a final version later on. Please
follow these steps to add chapter-information to your iTunes-Database
and everything should work fine.
1. Create a chapterfile using the following format:
An odd line contains the time in seconds where the chapter starts
(first chapter starts at 0). An even line contains the chapter
title. E.g.
0
Chapter1
302
Chapter2
...
See chapters.chp for a full example.
Save this file to whatever filename you like and note that the filename
is used in step #2. Make sure it ends with ".chp".
2. Before copying your Songs to the iPod, you have to tag them so that
the chapter tool can locate your songs on the iPod later on.
I recommend doing this with AtomicParsley, which is available at
http://atomicparsley.sourceforge.net/
The COMMENT-field should contain the name of your chapterfile you
want to use for the specific m4a-file later on. Here is an example
for tagging the file using AtomicParsley:
atomicparsley.exe myaudiobook.m4a --comment "myaudiobook.m4a.chp"
3. Copy the audiobook/file to your iPod using iTunes or whatever program
you like. EXIT iTunes now WITHOUT ejecting your iPod.
4. Copy my tool into the same folder that holds your chapter-files you
created in step 1 and run it.
The tool will now try to locate your tagged audiofiles and include the
chapter information.
NOTE that the tool will scan its current directory for *.chp-files and
try to process them all.
5. Start iTunes or unplug your iPod and test if it worked.
Troubleshooting:
----------------
If it however did not work and your iPod does not show any files or does not
work at all, connect it back to your computer and copy the backup-file from
the directory holding your chapterfiles and my program to the drive representing
your iPod to \iPod_Control\iTunes\iTunesDB (you will have to remove the timestamp
at the end of the filename)
This should restore your iTunes-Database.
