Hey Guys !

OK! I know the main rule about asking for the BEST settings / programs etc is not allowed. However this question is slightly different.

I am currently testing CCE on Species 2 PAL R2 DVD. It's standard 16:9 and using an AviSynth script I am feeding this to CCE with the script basically loading the mpeg2source and doing a BilinearResize to 480x576.

I am trying to get the video down to 700MB for 90 minutes and I have run tests with HC and tMpgEnc and all comes out great.

The problem is with HC every few sections comes out extremely blocky. I thought maybe this is the detail of the frame the encoder won't do for such a low bitrate, but as I scanned through the movie I noticed either detail levers higher or the same came out great as well.

The question is, what am I missing. Surely there is a setting or slider I am not utilising properly ?

Can anyone please help with ideas or tweaks to push CCE that little bit further.

Oh, sorry, I am using CCE SP2.70.02.06

Thanks for any help

I dont really see how this isnt a whats best thread. however if you are asking a suggestions for low bitrate encode (90 mins svcd on 1 cd is low) try using a a low bitrate matrix like ultra-low or some custom one (use search).

and as stated above.. your post isnt complete. we dont really know what your doing now. also unless i missed it.. what is cce doing to your output that is bad. i see HC is making it blocky, but didnt notice how your attempts with cce have been.

please edit your topic to something like 'cce with low bitrate svcd encode' . thank you

I dont see how "whats best" threads are bad if people don't flame each other :D

I mean its whats its all about: reading opions and counter opinions !!

:stupid:

smoking in the bed isnt bad either. starts off innocent enough.. its where it ends up thats the problem. ;) so rather than putting out a bunch of fires, we'd rather just not have people smoking in the bed.

opinions and counter opinions are fine. 'id like to do X. what are some ways to do that.' is not a problem. the word Best takes it out of being an opinion.
