Hey all out of this list what are the best quality disks to buy? This is my second time having to buy some and last time I got Memorex and then I saw a few people said they were crappy so I figured I'd get something different.
What one is the best here?
Sony Dvd-r
TDK
HP
Fujifilm

Also if you know anywhere cheap online to get some good ones please share. Thanks in advance

Hi!

There is no specific answer to your question, as it depends on both your burner and the players that will be used to play your burned media (Plus the fact that asking about the "best" anything is frowned upon at these forums):

To determine the capabilities/limitations of your DVD burner, as well as media compatibility, go to:

www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdwriters

(If necessary, open the Device Manager in the Control Panel to determine the make and model number)

To determine the capabilities/limitations of your specific brand and model of standalone DVD player, as well as media compatibility, go to:

www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers

Also I would forget about the brand of the disc and rather look at the manufacturer.

How well did the Memorex perform for you? If they're the best price and you find them reliable, then they should be a good choice. I've been using el cheapo disks for ages because they've always worked for me.

Please also respect rule 12 (don't ask "what's best").

Having said that, there have been many objective tests on DVD blanks. A ranking can be found here (http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm) and the media tests at ImgBurn Forum (http://forum.imgburn.com/) are also useful.

Verbatim or Sony (with AccuCORE on the front) are both excellent:cool:

I know the Sony (AccuCORE) were easy to find at Wal-Mart. The Verbatim can be a bit harder to find...I only happened to buy some because Grand & Toy were closing and had 25% off everything. I'd get the Sony first anyway.

2 years experience with many blank media...sony rocks.

maxell is the worst...cheap and crap.

A perfect example of why not to ask "what's best."

Verbatim, Verbatim, Verbatim are my top 3 choices.

I check the Sunday newspaper adverts for sales and usually can
get Verbatim DVD-R 50 pack for under USD$15.00. I got 2 25 packs of Verbatims a week ago for $6.99 each.

I won't buy Sony as I have a personnal issue with them. They
advertise by kicking a man in the groin. How would you like to be kicked in the groin?
I bet they won't advertise kicking a woman in the groin!! I'm against such abuse of humans and animals in
advertising, so I boycott those corporations which do.
