Can't play certain CD w/ape files

I have two DVD/CD drives that I have and I tried playing a CD that I burned a while back with 20 ape files and I don't get any response. In fact my Page File Usage went nuts and slowed my computer down. I don't have trouble playing ape/flac on my other discs. I may have played this particular disc maybe once over the last year, it is scratchless. I copied one of the ape files onto my HDD and tried converting it to WAV and my converter said "Could not be opened". What's wrong with these files? Why can't I convert them?

Can you not go back to the source of these .APE files and either burn a copy from the original disk or recreate them?

What's wrong with these files?It's likely that the CD media is at fault (perhaps warped or cheap media), not the files.

Are you presently able to play ANY .APE audio files on your PC?
