Dr Divx 2 problems

I tried posting on stage 6, but that was a whole futile adventure in itself, with slow loading and crashing.

Anyway, since DL the latest full stable release of DrDivx2 on my new PC, I've noticed that A) the encoding output is pee poor and B) none of the manual settings seem to make any difference. Whether I use extreme quality or balanced with the same file, I still get the same horrible pixelated mess that reminds me of what divx3 used to look like.

I certainly got good results with previous beta versions. So what's likely to be wrong here?

i have to agrre with you on the whole stage6/forum thing.

what settings did you use? you could be encoding a 3 hour film onto 700 mg, without details i think people wont be able to help you.

Overall the latest DrDivx is better than the previous version, have folowed the instructions(deleted old jobs or any references left in the Drdivx folder before installing new version or you installed it on top of ther older one?).

Have you tried avi.Net?

I'm just encoding TV stuff at 1000mbps as I normally do, and it looks awful. Extreme quality gives just as many artifacts as balanced quality.

when i tested DrDivx i notice while i was having probems with beta 6,7.9 other users(NTSC) were having no probs at all and then i got better results from RC releases and the others didnt.

My advice is to completely unistall DRdIvx, check to see if something was left behind and install again.

If that doesnt work try avi.Net or AutoGK.

Is your DivX codec registered? Check in the "about" box of the Dr.
The unregistered version doesnt encode better than "balanced" quality.

I presume if I have 'Pro' then I have the registered version?

Which version of the DivX codec are you using? Does the pixellation happen for all encodes?

I'm using whichever codec came with the latest Pro download.

Part of the problem I've noticed is that it's not as good at automatically selecting a frame size ratio to MB ratio, compared to earlier versions. So if I select 350MB for a TV episode it selects a framesize thats's too large, thus making the encode look crap and riddled with artfacts. Adding NR to 'normal' manually helps a bit, but I didn't have to use that on previous beta versions.

Can you send me your job .xml file? It is under the "Jobs" folder in the Dr.DivX application folder. Zip and send the complete "Jobs" folder so that I can investigate the problem. Thanks!
