Hello,

today I tried to create a Backup of 2 different DVDs, but I failed. I used this (http://mewiki.project357.com/Guides:Basic_Guide) recommended tutorial with MeGUI 0.2.3.2193. The ripping of the DVDs was no problem, but the following steps were. For the first DVD: The tutorial says to add the .vob as video input in the "D2V Creator" dialog. When I tried to do this I got an error saying something about an unexpected string. I tried this on two different machines (both XP Pro, SP2, Net 2, one Athlon XP other Athlon 64) and in both cases I had the same problem.

Well I tried another DVD. Once again ripping is no problem and this time creating a .d2v file and the seperate audio files worked fine. I skipped the audio transcoding since I intended to create a .mkv with ac3 and megui only offered me neros aac for some reason as audio codec. So I moved on and wanted to add the .d2v file as "video input" in the "Avisyth Script Creator" subtool. And guess what? Each time I tried to add the .d2v the result was another error message and once again the exact same one on both pcs! This time the error looked like this:

http://s03.imagehost.org/0845/megui_error_jpg.t.jpg (http://s03.imagehost.org/view.php?image=/0845/megui_error.jpg)

I know that many people spend a big part of their free time developing all those tools and that they are for free, but if I -a complete newb- try to act according to a tutorial and it just doesnt work it frustrates :/

IIRC version 2193 is a development version and still has some bugs. You should get 2192 somewhere and try again. I don't know where you can get it.

edit:
you can get it at http://megui.org/auto/

thanks nurbs. I got rid of the second error at least (didnt check the other problem yet).
Didnt know that it was only a dev version since it was the default download version from x264.nl
