DVD Decrypter vs. Fab (newb question)

Howdy all! I've been using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter for a couple years now, usually no problems. Those I can't rip (protection) I just figure no biggie.
My question is what the advantage (if any) there is to the Fab version? I'm relatively comfortable w/ computers, but really that technical, so I was just curious.

Some of the differences depend on how you plan to treat the ripped files. The freeware version of DVDFab Decrypter (not a different version from DVD Decrypter, btw, but a completely different program) only rips in file mode, mostly used when doing a full disk backup with programs like DVD Shrink. DVD Decrypter has the ability to rip in .IFO mode for encoding to an .AVI file as well as .ISO mode which is used mostly for a full 1:1 backup. In your case, the advantage to DVDFab Decrypter is that it can handle nearly all of the disks that DVD Decrypter can't handle by itself.

The only thing I use the programs for is to create a backup for my DVD's, as my kids tend to be pretty hard on the disks. I've only run across a couple I couldn't backup, so maybe I'll download DVDFab and see if that'll do 'em.
