SSE4 is the fourth iteration of the SSE instruction set. Introduced in Intel's Core Microarchitecture, SSE4 is part of the Intel Core 2 (Notebook and Desktop) and Woodcrest (Server) processors.

There will be 16 new instructions in addition to the SSE3 instructions:

PSIGNW, PSIGND, PSIGNB
PSHUFB
PMULHRSW, PMADDUBSW
PHSUBW, PHSUBSW, PHSUBD
PHADDW, PHADDSW, PHADDD
PALIGNR
PABSW, PABSD, PABSB

Former name: Tejas New Instructions (TNI)
