Hello DVD experts,

I have created home DVD using Ulead MovieFactory 4. Unfortunatelly, I think that the final product is misleading. The buttons that are present on menu include PLAY (>), PREVIOUS (|<<) and NEXT (>>|) buttons. PREVIOUS and NEXT button move between menues, PLAY button plays the whole DVD.

Unfortunatelly, keys on remote controller behave differently. There is no action for PREVIOUS and NEXT key, while PLAY key acts the same as OK key - it is a selection button. Since DVD is intendend for older folks, this is very confusing.

I have realised that PGCEdit enables control of PREVIOUS and NEXT keys of remote controller. I have attached the same PGC as the one for PREVIOUS and NEXT buttons on the menu quite easily. Howeverm there is no obvious way how to control the activity of PLAY key on remote controller. Is that possible to do that with PGC edit, or perhaps another IFO editor?

Thank you for your answers.

Welcome to doom9 pygmalion

The reason there is no action on prev/next on your remote while playing is most likely, that there are no chapter marks.

During playback, the play key is usually redundant.

Thank you, blutach.

PREV/NEXT keys on my remote have normal fuction while playing chapters. I am not satisfied with action of PREV/NEXT/PLAY keys while in menu.

Best regards,

The Play button cannot be controlled by programmation. Only the Prev, Next and GoUp (aka Return) keys.
On some players, when a menu is playing, the Play button is configured to react exactly like the OK/Select button. This means that you can use it to activate a menu button. It's the case on my Sony. On most players, however, the play button does nothing when the DVD is already playing at normal speed. Anyway, you cannot change that.
