Hi all

When I am backing up Dvd's I have always ripped to file and then burned using Dvd Decrypter or with Nero. I pretty much always get a good burn. However as more people are usng and recomending ImgBurn I thought I should give it a try.

I took a previously backed up Dvd (to save mucking about with compresssion) and ripped to iso. then burned to a +RW disc using ImgBurn. Great, no problem. So then I try it with one of my -R discs and it fails, and again, and again. Yet when I use the same discs and do it the way I mentioned previously it's consistently good. I have used the same discs for ages with no problems with my burner.....just when using ImgBurn

Does anyone know if ImgBurn is media sensitive or have any other suggestions......

Thanks

Al

P.s I know one suggestion is DON'T use ImgBurn.

Can you supply the log of one of the failed burns?

You don't have test mode on, do you?

Ok, we sorted this at the ImgBurn forums.

The spindle of discs contained 3 (maybe more!) different media codes. They're all cheapo ones but some are worse than others.

Moral or the story.... buy decent discs from a decent supplier.

I'd like to interject that sometimes you can get "cheapo" disks that work. I use GQ (Great Quality - usually a name like that indicates anything but "great quality") disks from Fry's Electronics. The 4X are Taiyo Yuden, the 8X were Sony, and of about 800 of those I've had maybe four coasters.

Sometimes you get what you pay for; sometimes you come out ahead.
