need to save address??

I dont know if i can post this Q here,

but yahoo has canceled my email adress, and I lost everything, I am switiching to gmail.

is there a server where i can backup my address???

this really screwed everything...mail is less importants than address...i would like really to save adress somewhere , and not on my hard drive.

Why did they cancel it? Are you sure? I don't think any real people actually work at yahoo!

I had a problem a few weeks back where i couldnt get to my yahoo mail or IM through my regular ISP.

Don't really know what you mean by back up your address? Do you mean keep the same one that you had before? If so then I dont think that would be possible without the co-operation of yahoo.

well, I was chatting and someones didnt like what I said(dont want go in detail, it is against forum rules...but my freedom of speech has not been respected), so I was reported...they sent me a warning to another email address, and I was unaware of that...so they closed my account 5 days later, and i lost adress book, email,.. yahoo??,so now they can go to h_ell...

I had an email address on gmail(unused), didnt open for 2 years, and it still work, and I have 2.7gig instead of 1.and pop3 ad smtp...

second reason to go with gmail.

what i want do is to save my adress book on a server dedicated for that, in case there is a technical problem (this could happen too)and I could lose all my address.

it woulkd be good to be able to save his e- mails too...i mean by a fast and easy way...

put it through some encryption and toss it on pass protected archive on a cd?

load it up to a free hosting service?
write it down on a pad of paper and put it in a box under your bed?

You lost it because you didn't check it right - had that happen, too. Would be great if there were a tool that would, say, just check up to 20 email addresses each month - just log in and out.

If you use Gmail, you can export your contacts (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=24911&topic=1529) to a csv file, that you can import in another Gmail account, burn to a CD...

If you really need to backup your mail, you can set up a second account and activate automatic forwarding (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=10957).

Remember that Gmail might delete your account if you don't use it for nine month.
