Corrupt MP4 header?

I just encoded a movie from DVD9 to 700MB x264 with MP4 container.

This is the first time i encoded to x264 with MP4, and i have a few questions i couldnt find:

1) The audio is in sync in almost all applications, except for VLC. Can someone tell me how?
2) I searched for a tool to split a MP4 file, and find YAMB. I just split a file, and everythings fine, except that EVERY applications cant recognize the right runtime. They all give me the runtime of the source file (huge file >3 hours), while my "sample" is only 2 minutes. I also had these problems with mp3's few weeks ago, and the problem was a corrupted header (fixed with MP3Val).
Has this also something to do with corrupted headers :confused:

Probably yes.
It seems mp4box just replicates the same header in all the splitted slices without changing duration.

vlc has terrible h.264 support, don't use it. Better to either use the builtin mp4 container support in media player classic with ffdshow for the h.264 video decoding. Or use haali's media splitter which is another mp4 demuxer. The best though h.264 video decoder is coreavc professional. Has smp support unlike ffdshow's that doesn't. So you can play back 1080p video with it.
