Does anyone know of a site that has tested various players HDMI upscaling? I read a review by some buyer that the Samsung's HDMI upscaling is crap and he got a Sony player instead which he says is fantastic for upscaling.
However I'd like to see how other players upscaling compares.

Excuse me, just a question:
What do you say by " players HDMI upscaling "?
More precise or give me and an example.
Thanks.

I think he meant "player's HDMI upscaling".
basically, how well a DVD player can upscale the a DVD from standard resolution to high definition. There are also a few other processes involved such as combing, smoothing, and deinterlacing.

Many HDMI players are hopeless at displaying and up-scaling "pure interlaced" 720x480 and 720x576 sources because they have not been fitted with chips suitable to detect the proper output format/timings
No problems with "progressive" sources though...

Not noticed any of that with a Tevion HDMI player I got on the cheap. Looks quite good to my eyes. But then again I was testing it on my fathers HDTV so not had a real chance to get to grips with it until I can afford a HDTV for myself (Nothing less than 1080 for me and those stats are only available on 42" and above in the UK).

Agreed...
I've been very impressed with the Tevion's ability to display "pure interlaced" sources via HDMI...
I have to say I've been less happy with the Tevion's ability to cope with different level of black via HDMI... they appear to be very blocky!
That said, I've not applied the v2.0 firmware upgrade as yet!
