Ive got various WMV's, MPG's, AVI's and most seek through the file fine, but there are some (and pretty much all WMV's) that fail to seek when I use the mouse on the seek bar.
The video playback freezes, and I have press Stop, then Play, to restart playback from the start, in which I lose the previous playback position.
This happens in Media Player Classic, and also other players like WMP, Zoomplayer, etc..
And this has always happened on various different PC's with various codecs. I'm using Kazzalite codec pack 2.53, but ive used other packs and even seperate codecs ranging from years back, and I still get the odd file that refuses to seek.
I realise that WMV's that are incomplete will do this (typical lazy microsoft coding), but it also happens with completed WMV's and even some MPEG1 video's. Usually an AVI/WMV/MPG fixer can fix his problem, but not always.
What is the cause of this? Dodgy encoding? Microsoft purposely offering an option to disabling WMV seeking for encoders? Corrupted headers?
Is there a way to force Media Player Classic to seek properly, maybe tell it to guess-seek or something?
