How can i replace the empty right channel of a stereo .wav with the data in the left channel?

i have a .wav file that only has sound comming out of the left channel. how is it possible to force the sound to also come out of the right channel? i have looked through all of audacity's options and cannot find anything, but this seems like such a simple procedure.

please, i beg you, help me!!

i don't know audacity but all audio editor can do that:

select the whole left channel and copy,
select the whole right channel and paste.
save as...!

or

select the whole left channel and copy,
file,new,stereo...paste.
save as...!

Hi,

To do it with audacity:

Open the file. In the very left part of the signal zone you find an X (to close the track). At rigth you find the name of the sound and a little triangle. Its a menu. Click on it an youl see an option saying "Divide stereo track" or anyting similar (i have audacity in spanish "Dividir pista estéreo"). After that you have two track mono. Close (with the X in the upmost left part) the right track (bottom track). Select the remaining track (i.e. by clicking on the right part out of the waveform). In the edit menu at top line youl find "Duplicate" ("duplicar"). You can do it also with Ctrl+D. Now you have two equal mono tracks. Open the same menu that you used to divide the track. You'll find an option "convert to stereo track" ("Convertir a pista estéreo"). After that, you'll have your stereo track. Save it with option "Export as WAV..." ("Exportar como WAV...") in file menu and finished.

Good luck

raquete - thanks for the idea. i found its possible to copy the whole left channel and duplicate it in audacity, and set the duplication as right channel. it works great that way! thank you!

AVIL - you saved me!! it works perfectly now. my 1400 kbps stereo empty right channel .wav is now a 706 kbps mono .wav and sound is now comming out of all my speakers. even managed to halve the file size!

thanks again and take care.
