View Full Version : Does mkvmerge GUI retain audio delay when remuxing MKV to MKV?

Say I have a MKV file containing audio and video, with a delay on the audio component. Say I want to remux it using mkvvemerge GUI, to split it into smaller files for burning and/or add a subtitle stream. Will mkvmerge GUI automatically retain the audio delay in the new version, or do I have to remember/discover what the delay is and enter it again when I do the re-mux?

As far as I know mkvmerge will insert blank audio frames before the start of the actual audio track in the file to create a delay. So when re-muxing these blank frames are also included and the audio delay is retained.

AFAIK mkvmerge set a delay element in the ebml tree...

by knowing the answer we can just set a hugh delay for the audio, mux it, and remux it and see if the delay remains ;)
(im nota pro, either ;))
