Need AVI Editing Tools

Well I'm making a music video useing my evangelion dvds. I have all my AVIs ready and waiting, but I do not have any programs to cut, distort, hue editing, audio overlaying and well basically everything you need to make a sweet video.

I know there are many programs out there, though I know not what half of them are called. I do have windows movie maker, but thats seriusly basic stuff there. If you know of any downloadable programs you could point me to I would be most greatful.

VirtualDubMoD along with its own filter library and/or Avisynth filters will do all of this. There is a bit of learning curve for this though, if you are new to this. You could start with the Doom9 guides and the Avisynth homepage (www.avisynth.org). Else, you could use a commercial product like Adobe Premiere etc (demo versions are available). A bit of searching here should give more info.
