DVD Decrypter and new Sony Dvd's with RipGuard

It seems that DVD Decrypter has finally met is match with macrovisions newly introduced RipGuard...

Yesterday I recieved my first DVD ever that DVD Decrypter could not crack, which was Silent Hill by sony pictures... featuring macrovisions new ripguard technology...

I hope someone makes a solution before this protection starts becoming commonplace in discs.

This is nothing new, there are numerous DVDs that have been released that cannot be ripped by DVD Decrypter alone. If you would look a couple threads down for a program called RipIt4Me, you'll see it can be ripped perfectly

Actually the protection is so easily cracked that Sony rarely uses advanced copy protection anymore.

A small point - If it's a SONY release, it's more likely protected with "ARccOS" copy protection, rather than RipGuard...

Interesting point CWR03. It was MacroVision that pursued LUK so hard - perhaps because they are a small company. Sony has so many other ways to make money that what it loses from DVD pirates is probably quite small in comparison to its overall income statement.

But for Macrovision, it is a different kettle of fish. It marketed its Ripguard as something like a "company maker" and really saw a huge drop in potential profit and stock price if it got cracked.

Yes, almost of them are quite "crackable" by many programs. ;)

But, the challenge now is to find some solutions for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD discs.

These discs are very interesting to study the encryption and their routines.

Nobody find any way to crack it yet? ;(

There is so hard protections to break?

Too much massive hardware recquired to process / defeat the security algorithm system?

Ate least, does anybody know HOW these discs works? I mean, their security system? :D
