View Full Version : Audio "crackle" in PPro

So I cut up my footage to some music tracks on Premiere Pro and everything was fine.

Then I attempted to add sound FX over the top.
The first problem arrose when I tried to drop the .wav files onto the audio tracks 2 and 3 (audio track 1 being used by the music clips).
PPro just didn't let me drop them in the audio tracks 2 and 3... I had to drop them onto audio tracks 4 and 5 and then delete the empty tracks 2 and 3.

Now I'm not sure if the above has anything to do with my problem but when I export my movie every time a sound effect is played, the audio goes really "bad" and crackles.
When just the music is playing everything is fine but as soon as an SFX is played it bugs out the audio.

I'm exporting the movie uncompressed in both video and audio. (recompressing it later)

Any ideas?

yes, do an audio edit/mix in another app, like Audition. (Also you can try lowering the gains of the channels, you dont need to go over -6 dB in final mix)

does it happen when you export a small chunk and play it back?

it might be premiere isn't using a big enough buffer for sound playback.

or it might be that it just sucks.

in fact it definitely sucks. use audition to mix in sound and music - it's much nicer for that sort of thing - you can load in a video and keep everything in sync, and you can do volume envelopes, effects and busses etc to make sure you keep the right levels and don't peak out.
