Is there any chance that AutoGK will be able to encode in H264 in the future at all or is there just too much of a difference bettween the two codecs?

Hello, and welcome to the forum.
Development on AutoGK has officially been terminated. From time to time, Len0x has continued to make updates to the product. See the FAQ for details.

You can always try the MeGUI's One Click Encoder function (choose it from the Tools Menu or just hit CTRL+1).
It is as simple as AutoGK but supports x264 and you can even play with the advanced options if you want...

Thanks for the reply guys. Shame about AutoGK not being developed any more...
Does MeGUI do the auto crop as well though.. that is what I find a great feature of autogk. I can't see any mention of it on their site...

yes it does. it actually lacks a compression test but there is a wide choice of compression profiles that will help to setup the codec settings.

Hi,
@ phoenixdigital, if I recall correctly AGK was aimed for SAP maximum compatibility encodes. I am not aware of any H264 compatible SAP actually (exception for HTPC or other Boxes)?
There are other few clicks all in one applications available that can do it beside Megui like Staxrip, Mkvmagic ...
@ Sharktooth, for comptests,Enc is really easy to use once the avs script is written.

i highly doubt about the usefullness of comp test with h.264. There are too much parameters the user can change (starting from inloop deblocking, custom matrices, etc...) that will affect the comp test evaluation. Also, introducing CT in megui will need an almost full rewrite of the program workflow...
BTW this is not the right place to discuss that, maybe we can continue in the MeGUI dev thread.

Tried finding MeGUI... But it seems http://www.chronocrossdev.com/ doesn't exist anymore

sorry to repeat myself, but if one doesn't mind parting with a little of there money, i've had some great results using Fairuse wizard 2.5, this really is a amazing utility, comes with internal, and does support external codecs including x264
and does support auto cropping,

@ Pulp:
To date, you've made 22 posts here in Doom9's forum. 12 of these have specifically marketed FUW, a commercial product -- 3 of these posts were in this subform today. That is excessive, and I respectfully request you review Rule #5, which prohibits unsolicted commercial posts here.
Thank you.

No need to pay for FUW if you don't want to though. My build should do everything that the official build does. It encodes via VfW though, so I really couldn't recommend it for AVC encoding anyway.

I agree it's a good piece of SW, but remember x264 VFW is no longer mantained by the official dev team.
