This question is a no-no.. I can tell you that IMO VDub is a good software, but don't ask what's the best pls.

I'm sorry I don't understand this question: if you have the codecs installed, you can capture with no problems.

There is also VirtualDub VCR, which allows for scheduled captures and can save in any format you have installed (and that works with VirtualDub).

It seems that you're capturing uncompressed video. Take a look at the guides, there's a good explanation on the settings :)
Btw. Go to video options and choose a codec. If you have enough space on you HD I suggest you a lossless one (as Lagarith ie): this needs a further compression to a more usable codec. If space is a problem you can capture directly to mpeg4 with a high bitrate and fast settings (XviD has a realtime preset). In both cases I suggest you to leave the audio unompressed to avoid sync issues, and then recompress it when the file is on the disc.

Note: realtime capturing with mpeg4 codecs can be very expensive for your cpu, so if you see that too many frames are lost you have to decrease resolution, or change settings to fastest ones.

Not without knowing exactly what card and software you're using, and even then it depends on if someone is familiar with it. Can you not save in XviD 1-pass using your card's .AVI ability?

VirtualDubVCR will allow you to save directly to XviD or DivX as you requested.
