DivX encoder 6.1 problem: audio/video out of sync

Hello,

We are having a syncronization problem with video recorded using the DivX encoder. I believe the version we have is 6.1. What is happening is the video lags the audio by about 3 seconds or so. This is a big snag. Would going to a newer version of the DivX codec fix this problem or is there something else I should be looking at?

is it just the one file that is bad?
is the video delay always 3 secs or does it get bigger as the movie progresses?

The delay seems to be fixed about 3 seconds.
I do not know if it is just one file that is bad or if there are more. That is certainly a good question. I will have to see if this is in fact true.

Hi!

Load the file into VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod, or NanDub.
Set BOTH "Video"(VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod and NanDub) and "Audio"
(VirtualDub and NanDub - VirtualDubMOD>"Streams>"Stream list") to "Direct Stream Copy".

A) If the difference between audio and video is constant throughout the

video:

From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Interleaving" (For

VirtualDubMOD, rightclick on the listed audiostream and then select

"Interleaving")
Under "Audio skew correction", set an appropriate number of

milliseconds (positive or negative) in the box labelled "Delay audio track

by"
Save with a new filename


B) If the difference increases as the movie plays:

From under the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Framerate" - and

select "Change so video and audio durations match"
Save with a new filename

I have found that if you try to process the video and audio together in virtualdubmod i was getting all sorts of codec jams, sync errors, frames droped and audio corruption. Once i started demuxing the streams and processing them separatly everything worked perfectly.
