What causes screen capturing softwares to not to work??

Hi all,
I need to know the factors which can cause screen capturing utilities to stop capturing?? Mainly i want to know for capturing videos.

In most systems, i have seen that if we use full hardware acceleration then we cannot capture running videos(playback). But if we disable hardware acceleration then we can easily capture the video.

So, such kind of factors i need to know.

Can anybody help or comment on this. I have to embedd all this into my project.

Any use of video overlay will prevent video capture systems from working properly.

Can i have some more information on this Video Overlay??
You mean, if i use Video Overlay into my application, then none of the Video Capturing Software will be able to capture videos from my application??

I need some more help on this.

No, but disabling or throtling hardware acceleration will usually disable overlay capability too.
