Hardaware Acceleration prevents capture??

Hi,
I am new to this forum, i have a very basic question but would like to know comments on the prevention of capturing vidoes through Hardware Acceleration.

When we go to capture any running video in our PC, we just simply use Print Screen or just any other video capturing software like Camtasia, etc...

i have seen in most of the system(which were in my reach) that if i use a FULL Hardware Acceleration, it prevents from capturing, whenever we try to capture any video it will be shown as blank, but if we use NONE Hardware Acceleration we get the result.

Why it is that??
It should work in FULL Hardware Acc. and not in NONE, but why and how it works in NONE??

I am very curios on this, and i just need some comments and suggestions on this.

In my case in can capture (with print screen or with program camstudio -freeware-) without problems even with full hardware acceleration. Could be a problem of your graphics card. Your description of the problem seems related to overlay modes (I have not enough skill to explain it). If you post a detailed description of your hardware and operating systems, perhaps anyone skilled member gives you a workaround for this problem.

Hi,

I remember a similar problem when trying to capture images from PowerDVD. If this is your case, isn't matter of harware nor the operating system (your system is updated). Its a particularity of PowerDVD (I think similar software like winDVD suffer the same problem). Alas, i don't know any workaround (in my case, I must use PowerDVD's built-in hardcopy).
