Hi, i searched for this and couldn't find my answer.

If i have a DVD which i have ripped (i own it) and then i turned it into an xvid-avi with auto-gk, and i want to take a certain scene and turn it into a seperate file which contains only that scene, what's the best way to do it?

i figure it will probably involve virtualdub, but i wasn't sure how to do it

thanks

Hi!

One simple way to do this is as follows:

Cutting with VirtualDub (or any of its variants)

1)Load your original (DivX-compressed or otherwise) .AVI into VirtualDub
2) Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copying"
3) Move slider to the starting point of the scene you wish to delete
4) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Go to next keyframe"
5) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Set Selection Start"
6) Move slider to the ending point of the scene you wish to delete
7) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Go to next keyframe"
8) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Set Selection End'
9) From the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "Delete frames"
10) Save with a new filename

what's the best way to do it? Please read and follow forum rules, specifically, rule 12: do not ask what's best. Thank you.

sorry, my apologies. i didn't mean what was best (i don't want to start a flame war), i was just curious as to how it could be done
