I recently acquired some anime that has hard subs, that must be viewed with directvobsub, so there fore they would not show up on my player, i managed to get a file that would show subtitles by using tmpgenc to output it as an avi, even resized it a bit to make the subs fit in the screen which was awesome, here is my problem, some how I have traded my subtitles for my audio, any file I encode now will not play the audio on the player, it will however play the audio on my computer, through divx player or wm, how do i get my stinking audio back. or is there a way to better reencode and retain my subtitles, for some reason divx convertor does not access ffdshow when encoding there fore the subs are not detected, do i need to reinstall all my codecs properly or whats the deal, i jonesed for 3 weeks figuring out how to encode and retain the subs, now my audio is gone, any suggestions or ideas?

Save the subtitles as a separate subtitle file, in one of the formats recognized by the 642/37...

ok, that would be a no brainer, but first I have to access the subtitles, these are hard subs, and I cannot gain access to them

You mean soft subs. Hard subbed means that the subs have been encoded into the video stream so you can't take them out. I do believe the DVP642 can play certain subtitle files. For ssa and srt subs, rename the subtitle file with the same name as the video and play the subtitle file instead of the video. For sub/idx, i think you have to rename it to divx-movie-subtitle-lang.sub or something equally weird.
Also, what format is your anime fansub? Probably not plain AVI. MKV or OGM, perhaps?

no, I do indeed mean hard subs, i know they are encoded into the frame, but they have to have ffdshow and directvobsub codecs to play, and I believe that both the divx software player and the dvp642 are incompatible with both ffdshow and directvobsub, therefore the subs wont show, I managed to use TMPEGenc to reencode the file and succeeded to make the subs show, but when I did that the audio was lost somehow, so If I could figure out what happened to the audio on the reencode then I could go that route, otherwise I have to figure out how to "Gank" the subtitles from the video stream, I explored subrip, but I could not get it to see the subs, the fansubs are [AHQ] encodes, and they are .avi's

If they're hardsubbed, then you shouldn't need directvobsub. Anyhow, open the AVI file with VirtualDubMod and post the contents of the stream list here.

Howdy, I just bought this player and it seems to work great. However, I can't seem to fast forward on divx movies. Is this a player specific issue? Something I can fix with the file? Or something a firmware update might fix? Any ideas would be great!

@stebo0728
Can you upload the image to a free hosting service (e.g. ImageShack, PhotoBucket)? The attachment is still pending approval so I can't see it.
@Phatgzus
Hmm, I can fast forward and rewind just fine. You use the directional left/right buttons (< & >) to rewind and fast forward instead of << & >> if I remember correctly (not at home, right now).

Oops. That sounds like a RTFP situation (read the 'f'ing procedure). I'm not at home either but I was indeed pushing >> and not the single directional button. I'll try that. Thanks!

@ilovejedd
ok i edited my post to include the pic so you can see it
@Phatgzus
also a handy tidbit on this machine that isnt exactly obvious, if you want to eject the disc from the remote, you have to hold the stop button down, it does not have an eject button
