View Full Version : MP3 Audio In XviD Files Suddenly Won't Play!

I don't know if it has to do with a malware infection I received yesterday (and cleaned thank God) but suddenly all mp3 audio playback within avi files is gone. They will not play. I even tried to setup AC3Filter to decode and it cannot. VirtualDub shows the files as having audio and they do because I made them myself and they play fine on other computers.

This JUST happened today and I don't know how to fix this. Is there a registry setting I need to reset??

Here's a picture of the error that MPC generates:

Hi!VirtualDub shows the files as having audioI presume you mean VirtualDub shows the files as having .MP3 audio. If so, load one of these .AVIs into VirtualDub.

From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Full Processing Mode" - then select "Compression" and see if there is a listing on the left column for "MPEG Layer 3" (.MP3).

If not, your .MP3 audio codec has either been disabled or deleted.

To determine which is the case, open the Device Manager in the Control Panel (Control Panel>>System>>Hardware>>Device Manager>>Sound,Video and Game Controllers>>Audio Codecs>>Properties)

Doubleclick on each codec to see if it's an .MP3 codec and whether it's been disabled...
