DVD2SVCD to make SVCD's...

Would it be possible to make an XVCD using DVD2SVCD??? I want to try XVCD because there is a 300 disk player that supports XVCD. What I'm thinking is to run DVD2SVCD and once CCE starts, stoping the process, opening the ECL file switching it from MPEG2 to MPEG1 and restarting the process. Would that give me an XVCD??? If not, any way to make one with DVD2SVCD???
