I am on step 3 of this guide:
http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/big3-scenaid.htm
I am having three problems with the scenaid.
1)When I open the working directory that I created from step two, I get this error:
Procedure Name: ProcessAVS
Module Name: ProcessAssets
Error Number: 457
Error Description: This key is already associated with an element of this collection
Error Source: ErrorHandler
Error Line: 216
Call Stack:
2) Everything I click to preview is a black screen.
3) When I try to preview, I keep getting a pop up saying:
ScenAid has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
I'm not exactly sure what is going wrong. I followed all the set up steps in the guide when I installed it. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I thought it might be a good idea to delete all of the software I had downloaded and start from scratch, just incase I somehow set something up wrong, or in the wrong order.
Now I am stuck with a whole new problem. Everything was going smoothly until I downloaded batchccews. As predicted, I got the error "cce executable associated with EclCCE is not supported by BatchCCEWS. I followed the directions, and could not get it to work.
I did a search and came up with this:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46664
But the problem is that I have CCE SP trial 7.0 and when I follow thoes directions, it says "This 2.70.02.10 CCE version is not yet supported. ECL support not available. See EclCCE.pdf for more information!" When I look at EclCCE.pdf, all it shows is the supported versions.
Is there any way around this??? Or do I need to delete my trial and see if I can find a different CCE trial?

No ECL is required for this CCE version.
Open the settings page for the Encoder in BatchCCEWS (File ->Settings) and use "Use Direct CCE Executable".
You can read more details here (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/big3-preperation.htm)

oraino,
please do not start a new thread for each question you have on the 'big 3' guide ... it will quickly become impossible to know what you have questioned and what you have tried.
thanks

I have tried this. When the error box comes up, I click ok, and the program closes. It wont let me go into file. I also tried clicking cancel, but again, the program closes.

sorry j. I will keep posting here as the problems arise.

If you have used BatchCCEWS.0.9.1.6_Final_install.exe from sourceforge.net for the first installation?
oraino

Thank you, I'm not sure which version I used the first time, but this last time I was using the 0.9.1.5. I just downloaded the 0.9.1.6 and it is working again. Thanks so much. :)

Ok.. Now that I set everything up again, I started over from scratch, and I am having the same problem as before:
I am on step 3 of this guide:

I am having three problems with the scenaid.
1)When I open the working directory that I created from step two, I get this error:

I'm not exactly sure what is going wrong. I followed all the set up steps in the guide when I installed it. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
I tried to just skip that part and move to the middle of step 3 by clicking the save button in scenaid. But another problem occurs.
Now I get an error from scenarist saying:
"Error: Access violation at 0x7C9 (tried to write to 0x003FFC), program terminated"
and another saying:
"ERROR-UNABLE TO RESOLVE CREATE DVD CHECKBOX SET CHECKBOX AND PRESS START IN SCENARIST;THEN OK TO PROCEED"
Any ideas as to what is going wrong?

It would be nice if you still said which versions you use. DoItFast4u, ScenAid, Scenarist etc...
I have seen the ScenAid error only twice up to now.
Once with a very old ScenAid version and once if the VTS was wrong demultiplexed (required VOB ID demux).

I tried that movie beginning with step one so many times, with errors each time, that I gave up. I tried again with a DVD5 movie, just to see if I could get a shorter one to work. I had no luck. Everything goes smoothly until I upen scenaid. (The DVD5 movie has different errors than the DVD9 I was originally having problems with.)

Avisynth 2.56 is installed correctly and works?
Have you used ScenAid 1.7.0 full install and then replaced the .exe with version 1.7.0.7?
If you use the option "Create new D2V / AVS with DGDecode" in ScenAid, is the dgdecode.dll and .exe in the ScenAid folder?
Importantly: Use only dgdecode.dll and .exe from the DGMPGDec 1.4.5!
Try the problematic DVD once again. If it comes again to an error in ScenAid, attach the ScenAid.log here.
Also the IFO files would be helpful. You can pack the IFO files and attach here. Then we can look whether something unusual exists.

I do have Avisynth, but I really don't know if it is installed correctly and working... I didn't see any guides on how to install that.
Yes, I used ScenAid 1.7.0 full install and then replaced the .exe with version 1.7.0.7.
I did not have DGMPGDec 1.4.5. I put that in the scenaid folder yesterday.
To sum things up, the only change I have made so far is to add DGMPDec 1.4.5 to scenaid. After doing this, I still got errors from scenaid.
Here are the errors:
(I got each error twice)
Procedure Name: ProcessAC3File
Module Name: AudioProcess
Error Number: 53
Error Description: File not found
Error Source: ScenAid
Error Line: 21
Call Stack:
Procedure Name: ProcessAudio
Module Name: ProcessAssets
Error Number: 13
Error Description: Type mismatch
Error Source: ScenAid
Error Line: 82
Call Stack:
I have to put the log in another post because it is too long to fit in this one..

I miss the entry "creating dummy audio files" in ScenAid.log
It should look so...
......................................................
* Scanning for Audio files and Processing
- Checking Audio File VTS__07_P01-80-384K-[0ms]-ch6English.AC3

Audio files are missed in the folder ScenAid\Dummy or the folder is empty. ScenAid finds not all files and it comes to the error (for me a wrong or corrupt ScenAid installation).

Ok... I checked scenaid again and have it set up according to the guide. So I uninstalled it, found it somewhere else, and reinstalled it. I made sure that everything was set up exactly according to the guide and that I have the correct version of DGMPGDec in the scenaid folder. I tried again and am still getting the same error messages.
I am wondering if it is possible that there is a problem with the dif4u, therefor causing an error in scenaid. The last couple times I used dif4u, a box has popped up saying that CCE SP trial has encountered a problem and needs to close. This has happened after it hit 100% on pass one of one. (this happens twice each time I use dif4u) I tried looking for somekind of setup guide for CCE SP, but I am not finding anything.
Then I checked to make sure dif4u is set up correctly, and I noticed that in AVS script editor it keeps changing from multipass to roba (even though I have it set to save settings). So I'm also wondering if this could be contributing to the problem.
Do you think either of these issues would be causing my errors in scenaid?

try removing the spaces from your folder names
eg:
dvd work ---> dvd_work
etc
also you are confusing doitfast4u and batchcce, as dif4u does not call cce
if after changing your folder names (and sorry to say it) and started from scratch again, you still get errors, please post (as an attachment -not as a paste into the post)
1. your dif4u log
2 your scenaid log
is your workflow:
dif4u ---> scenaid ---> batchcce ?
or something different?
dont worry, we will get to the bottom of this eventually :)
cheers

I would have NEVER thought to remove the spaces. It actually worked!!! It went through the whole process without errors. And then I got to step 4...
Now step 4, reauthoring is erroring. Here is the log.

The palceholder messgae you're getting usually means that the expected video is not there. So check if there are actually .mpv files created (has there been any encoding?)

it appears there is no path for cce setup. make sure in settings you have set the path to the cce executable (ccew.exe for sp2,cctspt.exe for sp and cct2t.exe for basic). I may put in something to stop you from trying an encode w/out the path set.
oraino
25th August 2006, 13:10
Somehow that path for CCE setup was cleared. I'm not exactly sure how that happened since I had just checked it before I started. Maybe I somehow cleared it on accident.
I do have 2 questions regarding encoding. First of all, once I started encoding, it took a little over 7 hours, and I wasn't using my computer at all. Is it normal to take that long?
Also, once it finished encoding, scenarist opened, and within a few minutes, I had an error: Access violation at 0x77c015b5 (tried to write to 0x00d7fd16) program terminated. Does that mean I just wasted 7 hours and have to start over, or can I fix something and pick up where I left off?
I tried to just pick up where I left off, but then I got bunch of errors from scenarist.

I do have 2 questions regarding encoding. First of all, once I started encoding, it took a little over 7 hours, and I wasn't using my computer at all. Is it normal to take that long?
7 hours can be absolutely normal. It is dependent, from your system (cpu, ram etc.), passes in the CCE etc.
Note: Big3 is a high quality backup method (to get out the best quality).
In addition I cannot say a lot. If you use Scenarist 3.01, go back to the version 3.0 or forward to the version 3.1
I have seen most errors, with people they used the version 3.01.
If you do not use the v3.01, launch the Scenarist manually and import then the Scenaid script.
Now do not misunderstand, but as ( jel ) already said, you should have started from scratch again. An error comes after the other and it cannot be this. If one keeps to the workflow correctly (doitfast4u -> scenaid -> batchcce -> scenarist), one gets no error....mostly

At first the method can seem hard and difficult to master. But if you have done it a couple of times and have setup everything correctly it will become very easy.

Well, college started back up, so I don't have time to mess around with this method until Christmas time. So I went back to my old ways of DVD decrypter and DVD shrink. But this dvd isn't working with that method either. One thing I did notice was this logo on the back of the dvd cover, which hasn't been on any dvd I have ever backed up. I'm wondering if this logo on the back of the dvd cover has anything to do with all these problems I am having. I am attaching the logo that I scanned. If the attachment doesnt work, here is a verbal description of this logo. It is a picture of a dvd and next to it a lighter image of the dvd, all inside of a circle with a cross throught it. Has anyone had any problems with dvds with this logo on them?

Original Asset: F:\DVD WORK\NARNIA WORKING DIR\I surmise you're attempting to backup "Chronicles of Narnia", a Disney release> If so, be advised that it contains the first version of "RipGuard" copy protection. So I went back to my old ways of DVD decrypter and DVD shrink. But this dvd isn't working with that method either. After ripping it with DVD Decrypter, you have to run it through VOBBlanker to "clean it up".
(As an alternative, you could start from scratch and use the "RipIt4Me" package [Including the use of "FixVTS" for the cleanup])...

Hmm, that might not be the best dvd to start your learning curve with....;) Although after mastering a hard title, the rest will even be easier.
Getting a clean iso (as described by setarip) will make your life much easier.

Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I now have a functioning backup of Narnia. I used ripit4me, and it was so easy.
