I just looked into a ECL created by CCE SP2.
Many things changed.

There is lot of work to do to add CCE SP2 support to AQ3.
Can somebody tell me what the heck this is:

vid.guid={7638F668-64BC-4DE3-8C27-5336A741F0EF}
vid.guid2={327C962F-37A6-4A98-9289-AA7A970A24E2}

they are windows GUID format and have some relation to wether its and avi or a .avs. (and maybe others but i didnt look further)
if its a .avs use
"vid.guid={7638F668-64BC-4DE3-8C27-5336A741F0EF}";
if its a .avi use
"vid.guid={C4A71434-A6B2-4786-A440-C0702369916A}";
there is a second line sometimes vid.guid2 but it doesnt seem necesary.. the vid.guid line is very important. if you dont have the vid.guid at or, or an incorrect one it will not encode.

the stuff in teh [FILE] section is sorta crazy too.. the frames are not the actual amount of frames.. look at the code in the writeECL() section of batchccews 0917 beta 5 source code (on sourceforge.net) to see how the frames, etc are figured out. it also seems the standard cce matrices (ultralow, standard, cg etc) have to be written to the ecl.. they are no longer 'indexed' by number. it was a bit of work to get batchccews to make a working sp2 .ecl

Thats realy a pitty. So it will take a while to get it done. Why did they do it at all? Seems they want to code our programs as addons for it directly ;)

is there ANY advantage to CCE SP2 over CCE SP?

i just tried using CCE SP2 trial with DVD-RB, and the output was EXACTLY the same as CCE SP 2.70.2.10.

using CCE-SP2 alone for encoding xvid's, i did notice a slightly different interface, and a few other options (like sync audio with video, and framerate conversion).

the output was EXACTLY the same as CCE SP 2.70.2.10.

you mean binary identical?

could you do me a favour and, in a command line window type:

fc "CCE_SP1_file.m2v" "CCE_SP2_file.m2v"

and see if any differences are found?

on the ecl format: is it like SP 2.xx in that you don't have to specify things like framecount and rate - it'll figure them out when it loads?

i have a big set of batch files that generate ecl files for old CCE, and i'd like to know if it's worth reverse engineering the new ecl format and modifying the batches to work with it.

i meant i compared screenshots from both outputs, and both were exactly the same. i haven't tried encoding, say, an xvid to MPEG2 and compared results. but through DVD-RB, CCE-SP2 had the exact same output.

sorry, i already uninstalled it. i only had the trial version and as you probably know, it is free, so you can test it for yourself.
