Fixing vobs on hard drive

I have one of those multimedia server installations (on a ship). DVDs are ripped to a hard disk array and the client boxes connect to it via ethernet to play the DVDs. I'm having problems with the players pausing and sometimes getting stuck for up to a few minutes at a time. It seems to do the same thing that normal dvd player does when playing a dirty disk. I'm thinking some of the DVDs were dirty when being ripped so there is some bad data on the HDDs which is causing the client boxes to pause.

Is there some program that will parse the ripped vobs and either fix broken frames or just remove them so that the player does not get confused? I'd rather have a glitch in the playback rather than minute long pauses.

List the problematic Titles and Regions and describe the ripping methodology used...

All the DVDs are region 1. Some examples of titles i've had trouble with : All Lord of the Rings, Equilibrium, 50 First Dates, Meet Joe Black and many others.

The DVDs are ripped to the hard drive using SmartRipper.

I'm thinking some of the DVDs were dirty when being ripped so there is some bad data on the HDDs which is causing the client boxes to pause.I doubt that this is the case. At the time of ripping, you'd have noticed SmartRipper generating error messages.

First try playing the problematic DVD rips on a local PC player - to see if they "hang up" at the same points. If so, Try re-ripping these older title DVDs with DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try playing on the local machine and see if the problem is still there. I'll also try the other ripping software. What is the difference between SmartRiper and DVD Decrypter? Is one better than the other? I thought a ripper was a ripper, it's just copying data off the disk once it's found the correct CSS key.

The problem is the newer copy protection on some disks that is more than the basic CSS. Sony and Disney/Touchstone both produce disks with schemes that neither SmartRipper nor DVD Decrypter can handle by themselves.
