View Full Version : My DVD ROM drive ejects when...

... I take out a CD or DVD before Windows has started up, for instance booting a different CD, or stopping a boot CD booting, and Windows ejects it because it can't find the one that was shut down with it.

This happens in Windows 98SE, but haven't tried it in XP as yet (lack of XP being a reason). This only happens with my DVD ROM drive, the CD drive is perfectly fine.

I can live with it (for now), but I'm unsure as to what the problem is, cause it drives me nuts everytime I find a cup holder waiting for me at startup!

Hi!

My guess would be that your DVD ROM drive is listed in your boot sequence (and the CD drive is not) - and at bootup, the system is looking for a bootable disc in the DVD ROM.

Just make sure you don't leave a disc in the drive when you're shutting down your system...
