Morning all,
I've done a search, but couldn't find anything relevant. Are there any free tools out there for doing acoustic echo cancellation on audio files?
TIA.

not in this lifetime :)
cancelling echoes requires (near) complete knowledge of the room the audio was recorded in. anything else is a guess.
however, you can "push down" an echo using a fairly gently acting noise gate (dynamic compressor/expander).
audacity (free) might be able to handle it. i use Audition (not free) for this kind of stuff.
additionally you can try a heavy noise/hiss reduction - it'll remove echo as well, but you'll probably end up with a "tin can" sound.

I had a feeling that might be the case.
Thanks!
