I convert PAL XVID/DIVX to NTSC DVD using the following method. Usually I have no problems at all thanks to the awesome DGPulldown but for some reason my latest attempt has out of sync audio after I finish. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I've read everything I can find and everything says it should be in sync with no more effort which has my eyes blurry and me still perplexed.
I use VirtualDubMod to extract the audio from the Streams List using the Save Wav button, full processing mode. This particular movie gives me the message upon opening the AVI about rewriting the header and I answer "no".
Next I run the .wav audio through BeSweet to convert it to AC3 then I use AC3fix to finish it off. I do a simple conversion with nothing fancy and nothing out of the ordinary.
I then use TMPGEnc Pro to encode the video only. I use a template from PaddysWorld for 25fps 16:9 and then I simply change the size to 720x480 to make it NTSC compliant. This template is just your basic settings that you read in just about every guide you see.
After it encodes I use DGPulldown to do the 25 to 29.97 conversion.
I then use TMPGEnc DVD Author to bring the M2V and AC3 files together into a DVD which I burn with DVDShrink and finally watch on my Sony DVPCX99V unit (no thanks to Sony).
Thanks for any help. I know there are cheap DVD players that do the PAL format and I have them in the other rooms of the house. But my main room has the DVD changer and the big screen and I really need NTSC compliant video (again, no thanks to Sony).
