 Hey i burned a couple different movies onto memorex dvd-r's. All the movies started a skipping motion and playing very slowly. I figured it was a bad batch of blanks. So i went and bought memorex dvd+r's but its doing the same thing. i also tried burning at different speeds. i use dvd shrink to backup and then imgburn to burn them. i have also tried using ripit4me but i get the same thing. Can anyone help me? anything would be muchly appreciated. Thanks,
mx718;)

Try different media and/or updating your drive's firmware.
Use dvdinfopro to check the media code of the discs and post it here. Some media are much better than others.

RipIt4Me (http://www.ripit4me.org/) is irrelevant - it is a ripper and has no burning engine, nor a link to one.
Memorex blanks are typically rubbish. Use Verbatims or TYs.
Make sure DMA is on and firmware is up to date.
Read and implement the Golden Rules of Burning (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49635).
And it would be useful if you could post your whole ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com) log. Makes it hard to divine the problem without one.

@mx718Hi!All the movies started a skipping motion and playing very slowly.Do the burned DVDs exhibit this problematic behavior on BOTH your standalone DVD player and your PC?

ok setarip_old a tried a couple different tests. all the dvd's i've burned skip on my laptop and playstation 2 who are both sony dvd players. They work well on the normal dvd player in the living room but once the movie it will blink for a moment. They also dont work in my dvd player in my SUV. I dont wanna go out right away and buy another spindle of dvd's like blutach said unless i absolutely have to. You would think if it was the blank dvd's that by this time memorex would have gotten enough complains about it. Does anyone else use memorex blanks? Thanks alot

The fact that you've gotten mixed results playing the same DVD on different players indicates that it's a compatibility problem - and, possibly a general quality problem regarding the media you are using.
1) To determine the capabilities/limitations of your specific brand and model of standalone DVD player, as well as media compatibility, go to:
www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers
2) Try burning at a lower speed
3) Do try using higher quality media - such as Verbatim, SONY, or Maxell
4) If you are using +R media, and your burner has bitsetting capability, by all means, set the bit, so that your burned DVD+R is interpreted as being a DVD-ROM by your players
