I have a couple of Promo Only Music Video DVDs and they each containt 40+ music video in DVD format. To prepare for a show, I want to create a custom DVD that has my own custom list of preselected videos from these discs.

Disc Format:
Each disc contains one Title which contains 40+ chapter, each chapter is one song. That's it.

What's the best way to do so?

Hi!

You can readily accomplish this using an authoring program such as "TMPGEnc DVD Author v.1.6. You can obtain a FULLY functional free 30 day trial version of this commercial program at:

well, I tried the 2.0 version of the program..however, I have a problem w/ one particular disc...(NTSC, 720X480)

The result turns out to be VERY blocky, It appears like the program reduces the resolution or something...

Other than that one disc, the chapters from another disc is fine....Trial and Errors proved it that, somehow, the program has problem w/ that particular disc only...

Any suggestions?

I specifically suggested v.1.6 because v.2.0 appears to AUTOMATICALLY transcode, whether you want/need to or not...

Being kind of a newbie for this, I need to ask the stupid question...

Do I need to transcode? They are pulled from the original vob...shouldn't need to, right?

Not for what you are initially trying to do...

Thanks for the help, I am almost there...with only one MINOR glitch.

Is there anyway to create a ROOT MENU instead of a TITLE MENU in the program? I have noticed that it doesn't create a TITLE MENU and since this will be used on a mini dvd player w/o remote (simple buttons on the player), I am afraid that it won't have the "TITLE MENU" button but I know most mini player has "ROOT MENU" button.....

Am I missing something?

It shouldn't make a difference, if you've set it so that the menu starts automatically...

Hi, be careful of forum rules (informative thread title & dont ask for 'best' in particular) :)
