Final Fantasy Spirits Within Ripping Issue

I had done a rip of disc one of Final Fantasy Spirits Within Special Edition using DVDFabDecrypter. I had noticed that it had ripped a full screen version of the video instead of the widescreen letterboxed version like I wanted. It also ripped 2.0 audio tracks instead of 5.1. Any ideas? :thanks:

Well, that is strange as RipIt4Me (http://www.ripit4me.org/) gives you the option and tells you what version you are ripping (in movie only/movie +menus modes).

Plus, none of these rippers do anything to the audio.

In addition to what has already been stated by "blutach", according to Amazon.com the (Region 1) DVD's specs are:Format: Closed-captioned, Color, Dolby, Dubbed, Special Edition, Subtitled, Widescreen, NTSC

Available Audio Tracks: English (Dolby Digital 5.1), English (Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround), French (Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo)So the DVD doesn't contain a "Fullscreen" version at all - and it contains a choice of audio.

1) How did you determine that you ripped a "Fullscreen version"?

2) Did you try selecting a different audiostream from the menu?

3) What did you use to playback your ripped version of the DVD?

When I look at this through DGIndex, there were no letterbox bands. Same through VirtualDub.

There was one that showed up in DGIndex as "AC3 3/1 32". As I remember reading, 5.1 tracks show up as "3/2", and the "32", meaning 32kbps, doesn't seem right to me for a 5.1 track.

I have this DVD and there is no full screen version and it does not say so on the cover. Disc 1 just has widescreen with a English DD 5.1 and French DD 2.0 track as the main audio for the film. It also has 2 commentary tracks in DD 2.0.

Try playing BOTH your original, purchased DVD and your DVD rip with a software DVD player, such as PowerDVD, WinDVD, or VLC player. Do they appear to be the same?

If you're talking about a conversion you've already done (To XviD, DivX, or similar), please say so, as this would have nothing to do with the actual ripped DVD.

Just because you "look at this through DGIndex, there were no letterbox bands" doesn't mean it's not widescreen. Look also at the info window to the right, and only if it says 4:3 does it mean it's fullscreen. If it says 16:9, it's anamorphic widescreen. This movie should, however be 1.85:1, and there doesn't appear to be a separate full screen version.

Regarding the audio, you might make sure you have "Demux all tracks" selected in DGIndex, since the first audio track is English 2.0.
