DVD authoring with ifoedit

I encoded a vcd to vob format. It came out poor and I couldn't make a dvd out of it with ifo edit.
I used vobedit to strip the audio and video from the vob file and then used the option author a new dvd in ifoedit.

I had 2 problems:

1. The audio and video were slightly out of synch. Is there a way to preview the movie to see if the audio and video are in synch?

2. When I played the dvd movie on my pc the video scale changed from 5:4 (720X576) to wide screen. The dvd played fine on my livingroom dvd, and when I played just the VTS_01_1.ifo file the scale remained 5:4.

I changed the video attributes in the VIDEO_TS.iFO to exactly the same as on the VTS_01_1.ifo
the attributes in the VIDEO_TS.IFO are:
MPEG-2 720X576, PAL 625/50, 4:3.
but it's still shows as letterbox (I think 1024X576), switching to fullscreen doesn't solve the problem.
I use mpc but it also happened on wmp on a different PC.
I searched for hours on this forum and tried everything but nothing helped.

Hi there. Below listed is what I know:

1. Most softplayer can play the file. All you have to do is highlight/right click the vob file and open with....If you don't have any then go get MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC which can also assist in finding out how much is the audio out of sync.

2. Get another freeware called AVIDEMUX which can re-encode your clip with sync adjustment. Since you're correcting the timing issue it is faaast. You might as well start from scratch with it to re-encode your source vcd to mpeg since your current VOBs' quality is poor.

3. Get DVDstyler which is a darn good dvd authoring program!

4. Finally, get PGCedit which you MAY(or may not) still need to fix the aspect ratio display.

Please experiment for it's kinda hard to hand hold the procedure all the way...it is rather easy than I sound. :p

Oops, you do have MPC. Go inside OPTION and adjust the timing manually.

Didn't even think about playing mpeg-2 file along with the ac3 file in MPC, how stupid of me.
