Hey,
I have been a user of besweet for AC3 encoding for years now, but have only read the more recent documentation that came with the latest release (which I have been using since it came out).

I have always used the -surround parameter when encoding as recommend in gknot/robot4rip. But since changing over to megui I have noticed the more common switch to use now is -dpl / dplii... Do these switches perform the same operation as -surround / surround2?
Thanks!

Just did a binary comparison of two encodes, one with -surround and one with -dpl and is came out as a 99% match so Im guessing they're identical save for header/tag info etc...?

Out of curiousity, is there any audible differance between -dpl and dplii if you have a standard amp that isn't dolby compatible?

Yes. Same thing.

From BeSweet Commandline Reference 2006-03-21:
dpl or surround -> Downmix compatible with Dolby Pro Logic.
dplii or surround2 -> Downmix compatible with Dolby Pro Logic II.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know such a referance existed! Should I even bother using dpl/dplii or should I just use -stereo since I am not using a dolby prologic compatible receiver?
