file A is better than file B but sometime it's otherwise

I open music files by MPC . I choose "Open a new player for each media file played "
If I open file A at the first and then I open file B, file B is better than file A
Then, I open file B at the first and then open file A. Oh ! file A is better than file B


Yet, file which is opened firstly will worse than file is followed
Can you explain this phenomena ?

Imho it's just placebo effect: simply because you expect something, you believe it's happening when, in fact, it isn't.
Ths difference between the files is so small that your "perception" of the 2 files varies more than their real differences, according to your "will".

Whatever the situation you are in, this happens beyond your conscious mind's understanding :)

doesnt happen to me, but the fact is with this test you always need to listen to the reference (original) file 1st and only then A and B (google for ABX tests). Why? Becaouse there is a chance that the lossy encoder could be sweetening the sound somehow (it could just be a little louder) and it may actually sound nicer than the original subjectively.

I used this way to test encoded files. I couldn't know which file is the best with this way . doesn't happen to you ? oh !

If it's actually repeatable, maybe you just have weird directsound issues. After all, directx and "weird issues" pretty much always go together. You could always try a blind test in foobar/winamp, where using waveout or kernel streaming should never have that sort of difference.

perhaps I overclocked and . This cause my sound card(onboard) which was wrong :D
