Media Player Classic Brightness/Contrast

I'm using MPC 6.4.9.0.

In previous versions of MPC, I could adjust brightness and contrast in the Filter > Mpeg Decoder options.

Is there any way to adjust the levels in 6.4.9.0?

Also, in 6.4.9.0, any time I try to do a screen capture, the process fails.

It's still there, in Filter > Mpeg Decoder. My guess is that Mpeg decoding isn't enabled in MPC and is getting taken over by ffdshow or whatever, or you're playing something besides MPEG-1/2, which means you'd have to do it through the filter anyway.

Use ffdshow and use its levels or picture properties tabs. Most other codecs don't let you configure anything.

Yea, I am using ffdshow, the main codec in the CCCP.

You can't screen capture in overlay mode. You have to be in one of the VMR modes for that.

To change ffdshow options, you just go to Filters > FFDShow Video Decoder and should have the whole set available. If it's not there then ffdshow isn't decoding it.

I don't see it in the MPC filters, but it is doing the decoding, as when I change the FFDShow Picture Properties, the video playing in MPC changes.

EDIT: I know those levels look crazy, but I was watching something very dark, and couldn't figure out how to brighten it without making the whites to bright and the darks to washed out and grey. I think I've got it now, lower the contrast to 115 and up the brightness to 20. No change to gamma or anything else.

There is no "MPEG Video," there is only "MPEG-1 Video" and "MPEG-2 Video," and niether of them have an effect on the video.

Like I said, only the FFDShow Picture Properties have an effect on the video.

yep, you can also change these levels in your video card config (lots of nvidia drivers set insane defaults).
As to looking in the MPC options, you will not find ffdshow there, you can only open it by double clicking the icon in the system tray or by going rclick->filters->ffdshow.
