hi all,

I've been using Gordion Knot to assist in converting HDTV transport streams to xvid/ac3 avi files.

my 1280 x 720 encodes are looking fantastic, however, I'm wondering how everyone out there is processing 1440 x 1080i anamorphic video. It seems as though resizing to 1920 x 1080 is a bit of a waste. I'd really like to keep the extra vertical lines though as resizing to 1280 x 720 seems to lose a fair bit of quality. Last night I was playing with encoding it at 1440 x 1080 and specifying to xvid that the pixels aren't square, however this didn't seem to work very well... It even said in the encoder page that Xvid doesn't play these encodes back with the right resizing going on in Windows... Do people just encode 1440 x 1080 and then use zoomplayer or ffdshow to resize?

Also, does everyone use lancos to resize in Gordion Knot? Seems to do a very good job, just wondering if there are any other resize filter's that would come out a little sharper when resizing 1440 x 1080 to 1280 x 720. Would a sharpening filter assist here?

Just trying to get a feel for what everyone else is doing...

Also Whilst I'm on the Gordoin Knot subject, what interleaving settings are people using for 1280 x 720 xvid/ac3 audio. I remember when I was doing dvd-rips-->divx years ago, that you'd get jumpy video playback using the defaults when muxing with ac3... Had to set to intervals to 32ms or something like that. Haven't noticed any jumpy video so far though... Is it still recommended to use these settings when muxing ac3 audio? Any help is greatly appreciated....

:thanks:
