Hi there, kinda new to this forum but great help it has been so far.

I have been backing up my DVD's for sometime now with Xcopy and now as well with RipIt4Me.

I have recently in the past couple months been having trouble backing up, or more specifically even READING certain movies inmy computer, after further investigation i noticed that all these movies have DVDL written near the center on the written side of it.

the weird thing is my DVD burner doesn't even read these disks. When i put them in, the light just flashes and flashes and it doesn't show anything in the drive.

any idea how i can get my drive to read these DVDL disks? that's the first step on trying to back them up

I have an HP dual layer lightscribe burner , and the most recent movies of mine im' trying to back up is basic instinct 2.

thanks,

Can you name a specific title and region that has this?

When you say it has "DVDL written near the center on the written side of it," is it in the center as part of the silver portion?

I searched "dvdl" with Google and came up with 119,000 results, many of them pertaining directly to your question. If what I've read is accurate, then your unreadable disks are simply dual-layer DVD's. Perhaps you need to clean or replace your DVD drive.

Put the DVDL disk your drive. Open DVD Decrypter. You can copy and paste the top right window, which gives media information.

Hi!

1) Are you using the most current version of the "RipIt4Me" package of programs? (RipIt4Me v.1.4.6.0/DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4/FixVTS v.1.4.0.3/DVDShrink v.3.2.0.15)

2) Regarding "Basic Instinct 2" (and other DVDs that have "AUTORUN.INF" files), the following post may provide you with additional insight:

Put the DVDL disk your drive. Open DVD Decrypter. You can copy and paste the top right window, which gives media information.
After you open DVD Decrypter, click Mode > ISO > Read to access the media information window.
