View Full Version : Oversize Burn

Looked around, couldn't quite find what i was looking for.

I have 7 DVD ISO's ranging from 5GB -> 6.5GB

I'm trying to figure out the following as i only started to play around with DVD burning.

1) Is dual layer my only option to burn them to DVD?

2) The file size is a result of bad decryption (meaning that the person that decrypted them could have easily made them less than or equal to 4.7GBs without quality loss) ?

*note I'm someone that would prefer the highest quality in media*
*also i don't want to lose any quality of these decrypted DVD's so i don't wish to throw out extras or squeeze file sizes if they will result in quality loss or lose its closeness to the original DVD it was decrypted from*

3) ...and with that... will the burning of these files, if need it to be burnt to Dual Layer, will cause quality problems as i hear Dual Layers have some errors.

4) Is there a way in the future to avoid going through such problems and what best approaches can i take?

Thanks from the top!

What program did this person use?

No, it shouldn't be bad decryption. He couldn't make them easily less.
So, normally, you could squeez them without any visible loss quality (as long as you keep the squeezing as low as possible) or you could throw some extras like the unnecessary for you audio streams...
I think you could burn them on a dual disc without problem, though I've never had to do it myself. I always use mono layer discs.

How did you get these files onto your computer?

hmmmm after doing extensive reasearch i figured it out hehe, i think... still have to see to it.

Basically these are DVDr9... i didn't take notice to the "9" at the end didn't think it meant much ^-^

but now after little reasearch i noticed that DVDr9 also means Dual Layer... so then these files of mine are meant to be on a Dual Layer.

These are a 7 Volume series of a show. It took me awhile to try and get around to finding out how to burn them and do it properly.

If i am wrong... then... correct me... if not say so. :)

Yes, that's it, but you could still squeeze them to fit in dvd5...

Why not try re-ripping the movie?
You do own the movie don't you?

i'll play around with the squeezing. But i guess i'll just go with the way it was meant to be meaning Dual Layer...

thanx alot guys. sorry for the trouble... it does take a little looking around and patience to get around to things. :D
