Hi

I'm looking for a new standalone that supports mpeg4 including packed bitstream. HD would be nice for the future. Subtitle wise preferable sub/idx support aswell.

The Zoran chipset 888 has the following players listed:-

Zoran Vaddis 8 (888)
Arcam: DV137 |
ELTA: 8847MP4 |
LG: DNX190UH | DNX190MH | DN191H |
Muvid: 208 |
RCA: DRC255N |
Samsung: DVD-HD860 |
Tevion: DVD 8000 |

The Samsung looks good and seems cheap however I read on Amazon that people are having problems with divx/xvid playback. I thought that with the right firmware this would be solvable however I couldnt find any alternative firmware sites. Does one exist? In fact do any of the players above have good support with new firmware development from non supplier developers. I had a Yamada which had great firmware support from NewAge enabling it to play Nero and packed bitstream.

Can I find one of these players that will do the same?

Should I bite the bullet and spend the extra cash and go for a KISS DP600?

Whats everyone's experience and if you were in my position what would you do?

Help/comments much appreciated.:thanks:
